Xylina is a girl’s name of Greek origin. Meaning “woodland” or “wood-dweller,” it gets its forest hum from the names Xylia and Xyla, both borrowed beautifully from the Greek word xylon for “wood,” or, according to Christian New Testament translations, “the Cross.” Xylina is also a magnificent alternative if you love the soft lilt of Latin Sylvia but perhaps want to take it up a notch with stronger, more prominent sounds.
