Marina is a girl-given name of Latin origin. The title derives from the Latin "Marinus," which unsurprisingly translates to "from the sea." This nautical number was also borne by prince Pericles and Thaisa's daughter in Shakespeare's play, Pericles. The virtuous princess said she was "call'd Mariana, for I was born at sea_." Sand, sea, and surf-lovers are sure to rejoice in this pretty aquatic name, but that's not all who admire this moniker. _Friends fans might recognize the namesake given to Matt LeBlanc's daughter, Marina Pearl LeBlanc.
