Although Katherine is lovely, remove one vowel, and you've got something trendy and totally distinctive. Like its more popular sibling, Kathrine is a girl's name derived from the Greek word katharos, meaning "pure." Inspired by the saint and martyr Aikaterine, it has evolved and withstood time, traveling sea to sea. Its many forms, from Kathleen and Kaitlyn to Kate, have taken center stage in many works of literature, such as Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew. Kathrine, however, has a more edgy side thanks to the notable figures who share the name. You may recognize Harlem-born actress Kathrine Narducci, who starred in HBO's Euphoria and The Sopranos.
