Doru

Doru is a masculine name. In Ancient Greece and Homeric epics, the dory or doru was a spear, regarded as a symbol of military power, that was possibly more important than the sword. As a name, though, it might be from the Romanian word dor meaning “longing,” or from tudor meaning “gift of God.” The latter is the Romanian version of Theodore, thereby sharing its meaning.
