These Boy Names Are Increasing in Popularity for Girls, Nameberry Says
In recent years, many parents have increasingly opted for names from the opposite gender for baby. According to popular baby-naming website Nameberry, names that were once exclusively male, like Madison, Harper and Avery are increasingly being counted among the most popular names for girls.
According to Nameberry, celebrities may have a role to play, as they’ve been using tradition boy names for girls more often. Two examples are James, the name Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds gave their first daughter, and Wyatt, which Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher chose for their little girl. (The starred names below denote increased usage for girls due to a celebrity.)
Without further ado, here are the traditional boy names that are now being popularly used for girls, according to Nameberry, as well as modern boy names for girls, which had become widely used for boys only in recent decades. Along with the names, Nameberry also included the number of girls in America who were given those names in 2018.
