Tristina is a girl’s name of Welsh and French origin. It’s a feminine form of Tristan, which derives from the Welsh Drystan. This name was influenced by the French triste and the Welsh trist, both meaning “sorrowful.” There’s more to this name than its sad meaning, however. In Celtic mythology, Tristan is a Cornish knight and the hero of the tale Tristan and Iseult. A brave and chivalrous figure, he has a doomed romance with an Irish princess named Iseult.
