The Scorpio constellation is at its highest from October 24th to November 21st, which is what aligned it with the Scorpio sign. But, like all constellations, there is far more than meets the eye! The Latin word for “scorpion” is scorpius, and this was the first iteration of the name Scorpio for the zodiacal sign. The story of scorpius details the scorpion that stung the famous hunter of Greek mythology, Orion. Orion’s story takes up a large portion of the sky; it was believed the gods pitied his tragic end due to the scorpion and, therefore, placed him in the sky, bedecked in his hunting gear, chasing animals and the Pleiades alike!
