Those associations might have been enough to keep him permanently off the baby-name popularity chart, but then in 1996, a modern version of “Romeo and Juliet” starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes came out in the US, and the name became a favorite. When David and Victoria Beckham named their second son Romeo, that sealed the deal.
