Ramakrishna

Originating from Sanskrit, Ramakrishna is a deeply religious Hindu name. Ramakrishna combines the names Rama and Krishna, two Hindu gods and avatars of the god Vishnu. In Sanskrit, Rama means “black” or “dark,” while Krishna translates to “pleasing” or “beautiful,” as well as “wife.” This powerful name was borne by the Hindu mystic and religious teacher Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, who lived in 19th-century Bengal.
