Known from Greek mythology, Persephone is the daughter of Zeus and Demeter. After being kidnapped by Hades to become the Queen of the Underworld, a deal was struck with Zeus, which allowed her to return to the mortal world for six months of the year. The legend of Persephone is known for the creation of the seasons, however inadvertently. During the periods with her mother, the goddess of the harvest, the harvest would be bountiful, but when Persephone returned to the underworld, the crops would suffer because of Demeter’s mourning. The name Persephone has strength and love in spades and comes packed with the love only a parent can truly know. Baby Persephone will no doubt mean just as much to you as she did to Demeter, making this a name embodying dedication.
