What to Consider When Picking a Biblical Baby Name

If you’re leaning toward choosing a biblical baby name, it’s important to keep in mind that many of these names are associated with certain meanings, stories and characters.

On the one hand, many parents like to pick out specific names from the Bible because they not only like the sound of the names, but they also like the journey, story and personality associated with that character in the Bible. On the other hand, some parents will narrow down biblical baby names they like and then read the stories associated with the characters to determine if it’s a good match for their child. However you decide you want to do it, it’s a good idea to familiarize yourself with the characters and origins behind each name.

Regardless of whether or not you are choosing a name based on your faith, it’s good to explore all the options. You might find you’re drawn to uncommon or unique names in particular. Or perhaps you’d rather name your child something more popular or traditional. Once you have some favorites, begin combining them with baby’s last name.

In doing so, you may find that longer names sound better or maybe shorter names have a better ring to them. Do a certain number of syllables sound clunky when paired with the last name?
